In MARK MAKING WITH AMANDA NADIG, you'll move through playful mark-making exercises and freeform doodling — not to produce something polished, but to start noticing what your hand naturally wants to do. Those instinctive lines, those repeated gestures, that particular way you draw a curve — that's the root of your artistic voice. Amanda will help you hear it, trust it, and then carry it right onto fabric through simple stitches like couching and backstitch. No drawing experience needed. Just curiosity, a pen, and a willingness to see what's already there.

Amanda Nadig has been making textile work with secondhand fabrics from her small home studio since 2019, stitching in the pockets of time that daily life allows. As an art teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, she has spent years creating the conditions for people to stop second-guessing themselves and start making work that is authentically their own — and that same philosophy is at the heart of everything she teaches. Her practice is rooted in curiosity, material exploration, and fearless experimentation, making her the ideal guide for anyone ready to stop borrowing other people's aesthetics and start uncovering their own.
